Movie Review

Case 39

Case 39 is a very freaky movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.  I'm not a big fan of scary movies but I always end up getting dragged to them anyway.  I'm glad my friend talked me into seeing this one though.

The movie is about Emily Jenkins (RenĂ©e Zellweger), a social worker, who gets a case on Lillith Sullivan (Jodelle Ferland), a little who is believed to be being neglected by her parents.  Emily believes the parents are seriously neglecting Lillith but has no proof, she gives Lillith her card and tells her to call her if she's ever scared.  One night Emily gets a call from Lillith but Lillith falls asleep on the phone before she can tell Emily what's going on.  Emily races to Lillith's house and gets there just in time to save Lillith from her parents.

Lillith's parents are arrested and Lillith starts living with Emily.  When Emily's friend Doug says he had an uncomfortable encounter with the girl and felt threatened by her and dies later that night Emily becomes suspicious.  She knows something is up with Lillith and starts digging around.  She finds out why Lillith's parents were trying to kill her and that Lillith is completely human.  Emily now has to find a way out of the situation she's gotten herself in without passing the curse on to someone else.

Although I don't think this is the best movie I've ever seen, I do recommend going and seeing it sometime soon.  It will definitely make the hair on the back of your neck stand up and it'll make you want to sleep with your mommy and not alone at night.

Did you know video

Q: What was the most surprising fact you learned from the video?

A:  I was surprised that Myspace in 2006 was big enough that it would've been big enough to be the 8th largest country.  It makes me wonder how big it would be now?  It also makes me wonder how big Facebook would be now. Facebook seems like it's so much more popular than Myspace that it would easily exceed being bigger than the 8th largest country.  Facebook is so popular now and so many people have connected on it that it wouldn't surprise me if it was in the top 5 of biggest countries, that is if Facebook was a country.  Facebook is so popular that it's become a verb instead of a proper noun in our day-to-day language.
